How to Pronounce GIVENCHY

Separate the name Givenchy into three syllables: gi-ven-chy, and write it down on a piece of paper. Breaking down a hard-to-pronounce name or word into smaller parts makes it easier to master the pronunciation.
  • Practice saying the first syllable (gi), which is pronounced "zhee." The French pronounce the letter "g" the way the majority of English-speakers pronounce the "s" in the word "usual" or "usually."
Pronounce the second syllable (ven) like von or vawn. The "e" is actually pronounced like the "o" in the word "on." Practice saying it out loud a few times, then combine it with the first syllable.
Pronounce the last syllable (chy) like the word "she." The "e" at the end is sometimes slightly drawn out, especially by native French speakers.
Combine all three syllables and pronounce it slowly a few times. Once your tongue has become accustomed to the new sounds, try to say it faster until it rolls off the tongue naturally.
